i cant get the interior panel that covers the sunroof to go into place. the hole in the headliner is smaller than the panel.. how do you put it in? do i have to bend it without creasing it? help...

It goes in pretty easily if the sunroof is open about a third of the way. I don't recall if you have to bend it but, if so, you should only have to bend it a little tiny bit.
Edit: You've probably seen this from the FSM, but this may be helpful.

The mystery of the prize.
This reminds me of an interview question from micro$oft:
why are manhole covers circular?
so they can't fall in.
given that fact, knowing your sunroof is not a circle, you should be able to orient the panel in various ways with the roof open a bit to get it through the hole without bending it.

The problem may be that you're trying to install it from inside the vehicle. I think (but don't remember, off-hand) that you install it from outside, with the sunroof partially open.
