probably easier to fabricate something. and dont forget you need to split the hood and reinforce it or the stress will bend the hood in front.

I don't really think that the 1st gen hinges would be best.. BMW system is what all the Honda queers use... try that..

i dont know just thought it might be cool but i dont want to be like honda. and i would prefer to not fabricate something. but i have the hinges latch cable and bolts for a first gen. so i was thinking quick and easy if it would work. but as for re-enforcing the hood. i didn't think about that. but still wouldn't be that bad

wait, you want to put a suicide hood on an fc? As artsy as I can picture it being, I see it being more a pain in the ***, than a rare mod.

Yeah I know when the weather changes I have to tweak under the hood to make sure the rex runs right.. I couldn't imagine doing so with the hood open backwards...

Now for autocrossing that would be nice incase your latch failed....... But otherwise, eh...

Either way I still pull the hood off first or 2nd gen....

But to answer the question, I do not think the hinges will work, the latch would but the hinges will not, The hood on the 1st gen swings down into the engine area a little with those hinges there is nowhere for the 2nd gen hood to swing down.. You would need to make the hood swing forward and out like with BMW hinges or Buick Lesabre hinges. Check out www.blazinlow.com and search for suicide hood trick. It will be the only way that you could have the hood clear the front bumper area...

Wouldn't it be "cooler" to just have no hinges, and use hood pins? And not have anything in your way?

You shouldn't be asking how hard it would be to build it, but how GAY would it be once it's done.

There was a time, way back in the late 80s, when FCs were respectful sports cars as they were and fashionable youths left them alone for want of funds.

Does the why change the answer to how hard it would be to do? Nope. Its his car, let him do what he wants. And he has a point about how much fun it is to work next to the fire wall in an FC with the hood still on. I had to leave mine on the last time I was working on my car, and I replaced my clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder with the hood on the car. Made it fun.

If it would be done, it should be done with this type of hinge, so that the front of the hood doesn't have a chance to come in contact with the stock bumber.

Relax, it's not like I threatened to steal his premix or swap the 91 octane hose for 87 at the pump when he was filling up. I just stated my innocent opinion, that FCs need to be respected and not turned into ricer abominations.

I think you need to reevaluate the idea of custom projects. He is entitled to do what he thinks to his car, I've got this same thing on my list of plans for my car. Despite it being your opinion, it's in NO way helpful for this thread, so why don't you just keep it to your self and your buddies next time.
Considering most of us classify RICE as gaudy and udderly F'ing useless, changing which way your hood opens, considering that the 1st Gens' hoods opened this way, is no way either of these things. It's kind of retro styling to most. FYI

Royaltrex, good luck, it looks as though you'll only have to make supports for the lateral section between the mounts between the headlights. If you place the mounts forward enough in between the headlights, you shouldn't need to have it open up and out over the front of the car. You'll just have to brace the hood where the mounts. Let me know how it goes.

Don't let negative people deter you, it's a great idea and it's ORIGINAL, that's why some people don't like it, IT'S DIFFERENT.

True, considering the only reason most people own FCs is because of the obscurity of its powerplant and how cheap they are, mutating the sports car concept further from true functional *** kicking backroad performance to something you show off at the local pep boys parking lot on saturday night seems pretty appropriate.

What about rusty old V8 "hick" abominations?

I should have taken more pictures of that green FC I saw last year at the Gainesville raceway. It was a vert with everything reversed, hood, doors, trunk, & gas door! Only the top worked stock.
