subs under convertible top?
I know this technically belongs in the audio/visual section, I was just hoping I'd get a better reply here.
Anyone who owns a vert actually tried putting subs in the back, under the top? Any success stories? I should I just stick with the trunk? I'm hoping someone who actually knows will read this. All I ever get is "I've heard it doesn't sound too good."

Ive got a 10 inch solobaric in a .8 cf box under the spare tire cover. No spare tire though and the Previose owner removed the little tower that it attaches too.
IF i get my new turbo vert today It will be one of the things I test ,low on the list, but still on it. I gota check the drain holes anyway so i'll just toss it in to check. Its almost enough sub for the car with the top down.
Im pretty sure it will fit though as it is below where the tire would normally sit.
Oh and it sounds ******* great. You just need a bit more power when the top is down, as it looses alot over the wind.
One way or another there will be a sub in that space in my new car, amp might have to go in spare tire well in the trunk as I'm actually going to try and keep my spare in this car.

I just put 2 Bazooka 8" subs in the spare tire area... The car has more than enough bass with one of them... Actually had to use dynamat with the second one because it began to rattle the trunk pretty bad... The car is sooo small that you dont really need big subs to make it thump... It took trial and error for me to figure that out.

well, the convertibles, if you check, still have the spare tire compartment in the back of the trunk. I thought it funny that the convertibles have room for two spares..... so that's what I intend to do, if I do put a set-up back there, is move the spare to the trunk.

My buddy, also has an s5 vert, put a 12" box in the trunk, it murdered any "space" it had previosly pretended it had, and I'd rather go about the sweat of putting beat behind the seats. Like many, I'm sure, I plan to pollute that trunk with a bunch of my crap.

Well with the spare bracket under the cover, my box will NOT fit without cutting somthing. I will probably just put the amp in the trunk spare well, and slip a smaller box under the spare cover.

I actually bought a JBL 12" for this car because I was thinking about placing it there. But it wouldnt fit there because of the spare tire bracket (at least not without cutting and I dont want to cut it away because I heard that it helps with stiffening. I dont feel that it is worth it because the Bazookas (the real bazooka not the knockoffs) are pretty good speakers that hit pretty goddamn hard. I have 500 watts going to each sub. You can feel it in your chest and thats all I need.
