On some of the realy big rigs like over 1k cid take em and run them up agenst the gov and use a garned hose full tilt, it works. So if you realy want to know something find that old timer, the one that's working on the old Packerd they know how metal works

The effects of the water treatment are all positive. Personally I've been hearing about this being done on RX-7s for about two years now. Nobody has fucked up an engine yet.

the only thing I've heard about water in the engine is that it should be avoided like a monkey with aids!

I've always heard that if water is drawn through the intake (yes, I know vac is different from intake, no electronics to pass through) When it gets into the engine, the pistons (I assume the same on rotors) try to compress the water on the compression stroke, which isn't really possible, and blows rings, heads, I've heard it can even punch a hole in the piston.

and now you're gonna tell me that isn't true!?
I want to see someone taking a video of this in action.

I've done it to mine. It's simple and it does work. You'll notice by the smoke coming out the back.

I just saw this post and thought no way in hell this will work. Well I just asked on of the guys I work with, I work at a ford dealership and he is master certified, anyways he says that it is amazing some of the **** that will come out of the exhaust. He did this on an old 72 monte that sat for 10 years and the guy who sold it thought it had a rod out, turns out it was carbon. running water through it cleared it up. I know thats a piston engine but he says it works. I think im gonna try it tomorrow, im up for anything that will clear up my problems.

about an hour north of you, in blair.
70% of the time I'm in the omaha area though.

When I get my 'vert back to the ground in march we'll have to have a ne/ia meeting, so far I've found about 6 rx owners here. (mostly s4 n/a's though)

So... i was looking for a vac tube to do an atf trick to. I figured... ahh what the hell, I'll use this big one (it was the emissions from the oil purge to the TB.)

Stuck the hose in the bottle, got in the car, and cranked it over for 2 secs. figured: that shoudl do it.

Get out, look in the engine bay... full ATF bottle... COMPLETELY emptied.

First thing runs through my mind: ohhh ****. thats gonna be a flooded nightmare.

Get back in. turn it over... starts up, sounds like ****, I floor it, it bearly reaches 5krpm. Then it slowly climbs to 8k. I covered the entire neighborhood in white smoke.

I kicked the rpms down and let her idle for three hours, she was still smoking like hell at idle. Took her for a short drive and cleaned her out.

There has been an atf/reddishblack stain on the driveway ever since, where the exhaust came out!

lol

(EDIT: two days later, my buddy goes for a ride with me, he says "smells like ATF"... I start to chuckle. About 2 hours later during out "spirited" drive, he makes the comment "she seems to be revving alot better, what did you do?")

Anyhow... I've done the water trick too, didn't use the purve vac tube though, used a small vac line.

Well I'm trying it as we speak already suckud up about 24 oz of water. It started to smoke quite a bit after i had to hit the gas in order for it not to stall....looks like its working pretty good.

I just kept adding the water untill the thick smoke stoped coming out of the exhuast.

Javex Is the preferred agent of choice. ...

I'm not an advocate or a disbeliver of this method. But If you want appropiate answers, why don't you PM rotaryresurrection aka. hypotnyz7 on this matter for he has both tried the method and speaks In favour of doing this practice.

There is no need for anyone here to be a guniea pig. Rotary Resurrection has rebuilt many many engines, and has lots of experience with RX7's and an incredible reputation. If he says it works, I believe it. I'll be pumping water through my engine come spring.

This really isnt anything new guys..
People have been doing this for a very long time (yes even piston engines) Heck Ive seen some shops that do it as a part of their maintenance procedures, along with oil changes, etc..
While its true that if you suck in a ton of water (intake getting submerged,etc..) into a piston engine, that it cant compress water and will end up blowing something....a small amount is not going to hurt anything. There is always water going into the engine just from the air being sucked in, high humidity, etc.. Even a oil-coated K&N Filter cant filter it all. A small amount running through a vacuum line isnt going to hurt anything. Ive done this on my FC, and a friends GSL-SE, and many others Ive talked to as well..

yes its both. a properly running engine wont build up enough carbon to be a problem. this water thing is great if you wanna rebuild the engine and not have to clean the rotors though

This has all been covered before, and I'm sure a search woud turn it up. While theere are no negative effects that I can think of (the amount of water ingested through a vacuum hose is small), it's honestly on my "why bother?" list. But that's just opinion. Run your engine hard, and it will stay clean by itself...
