stupid question-will S4 fenders fit an S5?

I believe they will but the s5 fenders are a little bit wider. You wouldnt notice though.

NO, THEY ARE NOT WIDER.

They are all dimensionally the same.

The only difference is the side mouldings, which are different S4 versus S5.

Doesn't the S5 just not have the cut out for the front marker? Or maybe i just see S5s with that part removed?

As the others have said, the S4 fender fits on the S5. I have a replacement S4 fender on my S5 and I just have to get around to replacing the trim...
