Streetport tools
What kind of tool would be best to do a mild street port. I assume something like a dremel, but is that powerful enough? What kind of bits should be used?

Porting tools
I haven't done a rotary(yet) but I have ported alot of 2 stroke cylinders. The best porting tools I have came from CC Specialty they have long shaft burrs and an excellent flex shaft tool and hand pieces. I've also purchased alot of cutters from carbidebur.com with excellent results.
As the ports are in the "irons" or steel plates of the motor I can't imagine trying to grind that much with a dremel. In addition it sounds like the rotary is sensitive to port changes just like a 2 stroke, you want to have a clear, concise plan of what/where you are going to grind.
just my .02....

^ in my experience, it's actually the HOUSINGS which are the biggest PITA to port... It's akward to port at an angle. Wheras with the irons, you don't have to come at the port 'from the side'.
The better, smaller and faster tools you have, the easier it'd be... I've used a basic drill with some home-depot grinding bits... Not the best out there, lol.
I agree that you should definitely have a set 'shape' your making the port into... I would highly recommend some porting templates if it's your first time.
racingbeat.com sells some nice, conservative street-port templates for an OK price...

Yea i am going to buy the template. I was just unsure if a dremel would be strong enough. I was also wondering what the best bits would be to use? Anybody have good experiences with anything? Bad experiences?
