Strange oil pressure?

Hey guys,

It seemed that my oil pressure gauge was reading below the first bar at idle (s4 gauge), so I hooked up a pressure gauge in place of the sender and had 50 psi of pressure at idle ( ~1000 rpm), and the standard 65-78 psi at 3000 rpm. I thought that the pressure at idle is supposed to be around 20-30 psi? I still have the stock pressure regulator, so is there something wrong?

Should I bother replacing the pressure sender or just get an aftermarket gauge with a sender?

Thanks in advance

idle is 700 rpm not 1000

What oil filter and oil weight are you using... probably not too much of an issue if the pressure is high, but it does suggest a crappy oil filter or the wrong weight oil.

I'm using an OEM oil filter and Castrol 20W-50 oil.
