Stock Turbo

hey guys. i did a search but cam up with nothing useful

i just wanna know wether the stock turbo, on a 89 S5 FC is oil cooled or not... thx

the stock turbos have both an oil flow and a coolant flow to them, so technically no. However, since our cars have both an oil cooler and a radiator, you could probably say that the oil does help with cooling, although with the pressure restrictor in place the flow rate thru the turbo isnt too high

Looking at the Haynes or Factory Service Manual will tell you that the turbo is water cooled. It has coolant passages that allow engine coolant to circulate and cool the CHRA both while the car is running and after it is shut down.

ALL turbos are oil cooled to a degree.
