Still Having Trouble Getting It Started
I'm having trouble getting my newly rebuilt engine to start. It appears to be flooding. After each unsuccessful attempt to start the engine I pull the EGR fuse, floor the throttle and crank the engine for about 20 seconds to clear the engine. I then reinstall the fuse and try to start it again.
When it does start (about once in every 20 tries) it won't idle at a constant RPM.
When I try to set the timing (yellow mark at the indicator pin), the engine will bog down and die. It will run so long as I leave the yellow mark about an inch and a half to the passenger side of the timing pin. I have pulled the crank angle sensor and checked it for proper alignment several different times (Spot-drilled mark on gear is aligned with the indicator cast into the housing). I have tried moving the crank angle sensor one tooth in each direction and it did not help.
Could bad plug wires be the problem? (I really doubt this.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
