I thought the N1 was smaller than the GT exhaust. Mabe its just me, it converts to almost and inch smaller(i could be way off) and those look almost the same, Im also gonna buy an exhaust soon, I wanted to know if there is any way to run an exhaust for a FD on the FC?? Does there need to be any major work done?? cuztom pipes running into it are not that big of a deal since i can get them done rather cheap, I was looking at the HKS CF Hiper exhaust.

N1 and GT are both LOUD! If you want something louder than stock, but won't set off car alarms at WOT, then get the Racing Beat set up. Looks stock, but performs nicely!

Sound should matter, I don't care how much HP increase if it sounds really bad i would not run it, if u really want performance and don't care about sound do what muscle car people have been doing for a while, run it w/out headers if you want a real good exhaust but it might affect backpreasure and some emmision laws, but on the upside it would be a true free-flowing exhaust , No im J/k i don't know what to tell you.

Single has a deep sound and is pretty loud. Duals are more ricey, more backpressure, and don't have a deep/deep/deep sound that the single does. By the way the Gt is not a N1 single so just remember that, smaller piping and not stainless. I am going to get the N1 single with the racepipe ASAP Willing to take donations for it though now.

I know the pic is not of a single N1, but it was all I had to work with! Also, I was looking around a Japanses website, and how about these brands:
Trust, HKS, JUN? Any other ideas?

I was under that the single is less restrictive than the dual.. There's twice as much surface area from the y-pipe back on the dual, and that's where the exhaust travels... hm...actually, by that argument, maybe the duels are less restrictive.. bah, i have no idea now!
i DO know that if you have one pipe with a cross sectional area of X, vs two pipes with a combined cross sectional area of X, the single will flow better... but that really doesn't apply here..heh
Either way, the single has to be a nice bit lighter.. and cheaper.. so that's my vote.

my theory is unless you have two separate pipes going from each exhaust port to the bumper, then single is the way to go...the y-pipe just creates turbulance...and the dual is heavier. the single is deeper sounding.
here is a side view of mine single...
go japanese...go single!

WOW.....I really like those wheels. Are those volks?? And I agree the single reminds me more of japanese style but the only downside is that it takes some getting used to because it looks odd at first.

The dual looks shitty cause it sticks out at an angle AND up at an angle. Both is too much IMO. Looks like you're missing about 5 exhaust hangers with that setup. The single looks much better.
If it were me, I'd buy two N1 cans and make my own duals with 3'' piping, it'd be a whole lot cheaper, and I could mount the cans at a better looking angle
Although I don't really like those big *** mufflers, or loud cars, I'll stick with my HKS

If the pipes are the right size, a dual will always outflow a single. I don't know what size those off the shelf systems are, but if you split the 3" into dual 2.5" pipes (with 2.5" mufflers) this will outflow a single 3". Yes, the Y creates some loss, but the dual 2.5" pipes have a total of 40% more cross-sectional area than a 3". Put another way each pipe and muffler only has to pass half the exhaust through a pipe only 30% smaller. The net result is more flow. This is simple engineering, not rocket science. A dual may also weigh (say) 20lb more, but since this is less than 1% of the cars weight, I don't think you're gonna notice. Looks and cost are a strictly personal thing, buy what you think looks best and you can afford. It's your car.
