Stiff Steering

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. So, i'm sure some one has asked this question already, but how can i get my '86 FC to loosen up on the steering??? Its real stiff, and i'm not too sure what's wrong with it. I just bought it last night and now i'm getting annoyed. Any advise???

First thing you should do is check to see if it is Power steering or manual steering. If it is manual steering, it could be the following things, strut mounts (bearing plates), ball joints, or tie rods binding. Or, you may not be used to manual steering.

If it is power steering, check to see if the fluid is full, that the pump is plugged in, that the control box just under the column is plugged in. If none of those were the culprit, then it could be the same issues that I listed for manual steering.

Hope this helps,
Vincent
