Sticky 5th and 6th port

I got a 87 sport from a guy it was missing the pipe that comes off the cat for 5th and 6th ports.I replaced it and put whaite grease ont the shafts to see if thay open thay didnt but i broke them loose.thay open about half way when i rev it but not untill like 6k.When i push them open its hard to push.How should i go about cleaning them.I want them to open a 4k and fell a surge of power.I fell nothing a 4k now.

remove 'em and clean 'em. it's the only way to really fix the problem. WD-40 or other type solvents attract dirt that can make it worse.
