starting trouble
i habe a 1987 turbo II. i cant get it to start. it makes a clicking noise when i turn the key. i diagnosed it using my Hanes manual and the best i can come up with is it was the starter solenoid. i replaced the starter TODAY and is still get the same clicking noise. i diagnosed it again after i put in the new starter, i cant figure out what to do.

I"d bet money that, if you got under the car with it out of gear, and jumperd the small blade on the solenoid to the large post with the cable, that the starter will spin over like nobody's business. Try it and write back the results.
Did I mention car out of gear??? And pull the small wire off the blade on the solenoid, prior to jumpering b/t it and the large cable on the solenoid. Your allowed to use the shank of a screwdriver to jumper b/t the two. The key is not required to do this.
And or try the jpg below. But you said you already tried the FSM.

My car developed this problem, and I replaced the ignition switch, starter & battery, and cleaned the cables in attempts to fix it (starter & battery were under warranty). None of that helped.
Then I found a post by Hozzman (I think) that mentioned that he unbolted the positive wires at the main fuse and cleaned them up to fix the problem. So I unbolted the 2 wires, cleaned them up and used some dielectric grease on the contacts. Sure enough, now the starter turns every time. I'm guessing those wires had been touched since the car was built in '88, so it's no surprise the contacts had become a little corroded and were limiting the current to the starter solenoid.
