Question starting trouble

Here's the question. If I pump in the ATF into my engine to deflood it it will start up first crank, but if I don't keep up the RPM's the engine dies and I can not restart it unless I pump more ATF in to the engine. I'm I missing something or doing something wrong when I'm deflooding. Does this mean the compression is gone on the engine.

You should do a compression check to be certain, but that doesn't sound good.

Also, check for vacuum leeks.
