Starting problem - Help

I have run into a couple of problems with my 89 vert in the last few months. I live in the upper midwest so I don't drive it much in the winter. It was running fine last fall and then one warm day this winter I decided to drive it. The engine light came on and it apparently went into limp mode. After checking the codes I discovered it was my metering oil pump. I found a used one of these and put it on this weekend and now the car won't start. It does turn over, but shows no sign of firing. I checked the codes again and this time it came up with a code 34 which I believe is for the BAC valve. I looked at this and found a loose wire coming from it which I have no idea where it goes. It seemed to have gone somewhere a few inches below where the metering oil pump plugs are at the top of the motor. Could this keep it from starting? Any ideas on what I need to do next? I appreciate any help you can give.

It may be flooded.
Yes FI engines can flood just like carb'd engines.
You get a strong fuel smell at the tail pipe.

On your 89, you should be able to air it out by holding the throttle to the floor while cranking for 15 seconds.

The only thing I can tell you is jack it up and look underneith there. You also might try leabing the negitive cable off the battery for about 20 minutes. That should reset the computer.

Thanks, guys. I finally got it started today, but had to do the ATF trick to unflood it. It smoked like crazy for about a minute and then I noticed the white smoke coming out near the catalytic converter. Is this normal or do I have an exhaust leak there? It seemed to be running fine and I allowed it to fully warm up. After it was warmed I revved it up to around 3000-3500 rpm and then when I let off the gas the idle dropped down to around 500 rpm and then died. I waited for 20 minutes and tried to start it again with no luck. Could it be flooded again? What should I try next?

I got it running this weekend! After using the ATF trick to unflood it, I decided my plugs might need cleaned or replaced. After removing them and giving them a good cleaning it started right up and has run great all weekend. I did change the oil and filter right away so now I am ready for some RX-7 fun.
