Start... then stop

I've just completed an S5 J-spec TII swap into my 90 vert (thanks in no small part to kevin landers help). Unfortunately I am now having trouble getting the damn thing started. Unlike I though, I had to keep the fuel lines just like they were stock (not reversed, like i've heard j-specs need to be). But after I figured that out, the car will crank fine, starts... then stops. The whole thing takes 1-2 seconds before it dies. Opening the throttle while starting has no effect... maybe makes it a bit tougher.

Triple checked all electrical connections.

Swapped out mass air flow sensors with one that was known to work, no change.

Checked for vacuum leaks.

Tried pinching off the supply fuel line to help lean it out to start, no change.

Pulled it down the driveway, popped the clutch, and it started for maybe 3-4 seconds, then died.

Seached the forums for about 30 min., no help found.

Not quite sure what to check next. I will pick up a new fuel filter tomorrow morning because thats the only tune-up part I haven't replaced. Any suggestions/ideas will be very helpful.

i had this problem and it was the AFM connection that for the safc at the ecu

it sounds like it's afm related cause it starts and then dies again ...
cause the ECU switches from its startup map to reading the afm after a few seconds

you said you swapped it out, but have you checked the connections at the ECU maybe?

other than consider this a free bump i guess

Yes, I thought it was an AFM problem at first too, thats why I swapped it out. I haven't checked the connections at the ECU though. I will check the plug, wire, and connections at the ECU tomorrow morning. Thanks for the input.

Any other suggestions are still welcome.

I did that start then stop thing 3-5 times between checking for different problems. I'll try starting it a bunch of times in a row tomorrow morning. I would try it now, but it'll probably **** my neighbors off . Thanks for replies.

I'm having the same exact problem. Mine is flooding HORRIBLY. I have not yet figured out the whole situation, but for some reason, my injectors arent closing... at all. I had the car running one time for about an hour, but it had almost no power and the next day it wouldnt start. Theres crazy **** going on in my car... if i figure anything out, i'll tell you. Anyway, same sort of thing, mine just dumps so much fuel it kills itself within seconds.

Update. I checked the AFM per the FSM and everything is well within spec. I was trying to read the voltages for the AFM at the ECU, but I could not get the probe from my multimeter into the plug past the wire. I will try using a pin or something after lunch.

But I did get my car running (kinda). I had a friend push the cone on the AFM while I was cranking. And it started running, but real rough. I could help it along with a blip from the throttle, but I couldn't get it to idle.

After lunch I will trying to get some voltage readings from the ECU to rule out other things, maybe even swap out the S/5 TII ECU for the S5 N/A ECU to see if that makes any difference.

I'll keep you posted on what I find. In the meantime more comments/suggestions are welcome.

It would run with the AFM unplugged, but wouldn't idle to well. I tried putting the N/A ECU into it, and it ran, but about as well as with the AFM unplugged and the TII ECU in there. Not quite sure what to do/check next. Any help is appreciated.

Found the problem. Last time I took the TID off, I forgot to hook up the hose that goes to the BAC. It runs beautifully now. Thank you for all your help. Hopefully this experience will help someone else.
