Standalone..
If I (Karack actually did it :P hahaha) just installed a stadalone that already has a base map loaded on it can I drive it around a bit if I stay out of boost? I know the base map is made for stock...which I don't have. 720 primarys, 1000secondarys, bigger turbo, mild porting, fuel pump, etc etc blah blah.
So can I drive it around a bit....say 100 miles round trip?

If it will let you drive around, it won't be efficient.
You'd be lucky if you get decent gas mileage and decent driveability.
Most likely it'll eat gas like crazy and hesitate like a ****.
With gas prices going sky high, why risk it???
(BTW, 92 in Hawaii has hit $2.80 / gallon.)

The worst thing that can happen is that you'll foul your plugs so bad that they stop sparking.
You cannot detonate the engine under vacuum and cause any damage; detonation has to be under load (i.e. under boost) to cause damage.
