lol. I haven't sold it yet, it's sitting in my room. My little brother called first dibs on it, so it's going on his T2.

I was trying to get SAP (ShineAutoProject) to make an EXTENDED S4 duckbill spoiler but nothing ever happened.

Well, it wouldn't be perfect, but would make a huge difference if you picked up a clay bar kit, mothers and meguirs make really nice ones, just wash, dry, claybar, rinse, dry wax, will take almost all of the gunk off, same for old emblem/sticker adhesive. There's not really anything you can do to make up for the difference in color from paint fade, but the clay bar makes a HUGE difference, that and it will make your paint smooth as glass.

yeh but i mean what do i fill the holes with? im assuming there has to be some kind of paste compound that will harden and be sandable? i mean otherwise i would be putting duct tape on the inside and like painting over the duct tape on the outside lol

thnx for the cleaning tip tho... looks like its going to be a mess regardless

I think fiberglass could work really well here. You could also do bondo (body filler), but I'd be nervous about it popping out/off, I think it's too brittle for good body work.

You can get fiberglass at parts stores, maybe even a hardware store, and do your best to match the paint (though in your case it shouldn't be too hard).

Your car looks just like an rx7 in Grassroots motorsports called the Orange Crush, I think that was a 1st gen though. Your car reminded me of it at least.

I think my friend used bondo over the power antenna hole then sanded it down. Whatever he did, it looks perfect, like it was never there. I'm going to do the same with my power antenna and the holes from the spoiler.

youll want to glue or JB weld a piece of metal or plastic to the underside of hole for stablility or the bondo will punch through.

I agree, or you could use wire mesh with rivets.

I'm not exactly sure what he used. I don't do bodywork, I just guessed. I'll be stopping by his house this weekend probably, I'll have to ask him again.

I think the question is... without the spoiler, will the rear end start feeling light at higher speeds? how will it affect drag and downforce without it?

alright i bought all the stuff to patch... wire mesh, bondo bodyfiller, primer, spray paint, clay bar & solution, 2 grades of sander sponges (going to get the 3rd one too seems like i'll probably need it for a good job), and oh yeh grit grease hand wash stuff lol. my arms are probably going to fall off from cancer heh

also grabbed a bottle of rust remover and paint remover too, going to see about getting everything fixed up if possible

will post pics... before shots already up lol.

Oops! I'm too late. I was gonna post a couple of big *** pictures of mine from the rear but...
I would have voted +11venty1 to keeping the spoiler.

And so-mars, might want to check out this thread if you havent.

OKAY enough with the filling holes questions.
Wire mesh?? never heard that.
How the pros do it, is get a piece of metal and tack WELD it in there.
Then grind down the tack welds if its above the body line.
Then take some good body filler and fill in the hole.
The body filler wont crack or anything.
That **** is wayyyy tougher than most people think.
Plus i thought id post a pic of mine with no spoiler...

official mazda testing while the FC was being created in 1985 states that wind drag was reduced by 0.3 or 0.4 with the addition of the aero package. (rear spoiler, front lip, side skirts/canards).

Basically, yes, its functional. BUT if the looks of the stock spoiler urp your style then removing it will not suffer enough aerodynamic problems to really notice.

Yep, I love them wingless. Now I can't wait to install my shiney new exhaust that's sitting next to me.

He asked for DIY advice, not what the professionals do. I seriously doubt he can tack weld if he has to ask how to plug a hole in the first place.

hah yeah i guess. i think no spoiler looks best. easiest way to fill the holes is bondo. but i'm not a bondo fan either. but hey, it works.
