speedometer problems

my speedometer needle jumps sometimes. sometimes it is on take off, and others it takes a while. anyone know what the possible culprit is?

You've probably got a sticky speedo cable. They're a pain in the ***, 'cause the clip on the back of the instrument panel breaks, and the cable slips out. That, or the end that goes in the tranni gets worn. They are easy to put in, so if you can, buy a new one.

if it is jumping, most of the time it is a bad cable.

Replace the cable

if you can get your hands on a haynes manual, it tells you how to replace the speedo cable


where would be a good place to look at getting a new cable?

yes i have the same prob!!!
But mine seems to drop when i hit high boost!
I ordered a Haynes manual where would I get a speedo cable! Canada UAP/NAPA?
