Question Speed Sensor Signal

What do our 2nd gen cars use for a vehicle speed sensor signal? Is it a 2 pulse per rotation or 4 pulse per rotation signal (2000 pulses per mile or 4000 pulses per mile)? Also is it square wave DC signal, or Sine-wave AC signal. I need to know to adapt to a different ECM. Thanks. Dave C.

thats a new one on me..... I didn't think a second gen had that, especially being that the Spedo is mechanical.

I think he's refering to the speed signal that is used by the Cruise Control Unit, maybe. If I remember right the series five FSM, which I don't have, shows the wave forms somewhere in the front of the fsm. Under trouble shooting of some sort.

The speed signal is coming from the gauges and goes to the Cruise control, antilock and power steering computers.

I thought it was 1026 per mile, but I don't have the information in front of me right now to confirm that.

I never nit pick. But my manual says From A/T Control Unit....From Cruise Control Unit....From Power Steering Unit......From A.A.S Control Unit I might jpg a snap shot of the meter when connected to the Cruise Control wire, Green/Red, tomorrow if I have time.
