specific electrical/keyless entry question, pls help!!

hey,
im having a little trouble wiring my keyless entry system.

the actuators, relays, and everything is set up and wired in. it does work, but when im driving, the door locks lock/unlock randomly and constantly. but it does lock and unlock when i arm/disarm my aftermarket alarm. originally i had the same ground for both relays, so i made them separate and this fixed it for a while, but then it started happenign againg. my power for the relays is tapped into my deck constant.

so, does anyone have any experience with this, or know how to fix this problem? its really pissing me off. the other day, i was blasting my system, and since the actuator relays are tied into the deck power, i guess it just drew too much power when the locks started flickering and blew my room fuse. thank god for fuses. could it be that the alarm is faulty and giving bad signals to the relays? or, im guessing that its getting some sort of interference or loop causing bad signals?

pls help!!

btw, my car is an 88 gx, no stock alarm.

You probably need to give your alarm its own dedicated circuit...

Depending on design, those relays could be sucking down 3 or 4 amps apiece, which is why the fuse blew (like you said, "thank God for fuses").

Try to find a circuit capable of handling the alarm system's load, a good candidate would be an options circuit thas was originally wired at the factory, but the option (component) wasn't installed. If you're going to wire an entirely new circuit, pay attention to the type of circuit you'll want, the hot (batt) and the Accessory circuit, which should be the top 2 rows on your cabin fuse box, if you happen to have room there for a new fuse...

You probably made a bad connection when you hooked up the ignition lead for your aftermarket keyless entry.

so wayne, im not quite sure i know what u mean. so ur saying i should find a new power source for my alarm then?

icemark, i will check out my connections again. but im pretty sure they are all tight. before, i tapped the relays into my alarm power source and the same thing happened.

can anyone tell me a power source i can use for my relays, like from the fusebox? ive tried tapping in a wire into a few slots but it didnt work. hmm, im just really stuck right now, hopefully someone can help.

my alarm is a clifford, pretty basic model. the alarm has been working fine, so i doubt there is anything wrong with the connections for that. but for some reason something is sending signals to the actuators randomly.

Without seeing a schematic of the wiring you've done, I can only speculate. Hopefully Icemark is right and it'll be a quick fix, but if you're blowing fuses, then something is wrong. You've either got too much of a current draw on the one circuit you used (that would be my guess), or you've got a short somewhere, maybe one that only manifests itself during a particular alarm function.
Remember, the top row of fuses on your cabin fuse box are all hot (battery powered) fuses, and the second row down are all "access" powered (need the key turned to the "accessory" position). If you don't have any spare fuse locations on these rows, you're gonna have to wire your own circuit from the battery, and install an individual fuse for it...

Its very easy to see. Program the ignition controlled door locks back off or disconnect the ignition lead to the keyless.

If the problem goes away, you mickey moused the ignition sense wire.
