I apologize. I hadn't realize that you had (obviously) never installed a stereo before. The wires with the stripes (I.E. Lt. Green/Orange) are pretty much always the negative side. The solid colored wires (I.E. Lt. Green) are pretty much always positive.
Thanks for being so straightforward!

Actually buddy I have installed many stereos before. And you so (obviously) have only installed on one type of vehicle. It depends on manufacturer. VW have solid colors for negative, such as brown). Hondas and most other imports use a random colors with black to mark neg. But i do agree most of the time it will be the wires with a stripe that will be neg. but they will use a similar color (ie. black) to mark it as neg. So my previous comment stands.
Just FYI.
Anyways, I'm sure this situation is cleared up by now, how's your stereo sound? Did you run the new speaker wires or use the old ones?

I've done Honda's, Toyota's, VW's, Dodge's, Mitsubishi's, Buicks, GMC's, Chevy's, you name it... I used to install stereos and speakers for the other students in my school's parking lot during lunch and study halls for some extra cash.
Just FYI.

Anyway i decided to just use the stock wires since they were 16 awg anyways as Icemark had said. And im not going to be running anything crazy. The headunit is hooked up, im hooking up the new rear speakers today and putting the battery in for a quick sound test. I will let you guys know.

Where did you guys ground your headunits?
I have it all wired up with the new speakers and went to turn it on and there was no power to the headunit itself. So I must have a bad ground.
Preferably were I don't have to sctratch any paint.
Thanks
