Sound Deadener

Sound Deadener
So I just finnished getting my 89 GTU race setup running. Its mainly a race/weekend car that I will drive to and from the track so it has to be livable for a couple hours of street driving at a time. Anyway I stripped it out to bring down the weight for the track but after driving my car around a little bit I am noticing no detectible noise is coming from the front but from the back I am getting some really crazy noise. Exhaust noise is expected with my setup but I am also getting the tin can feel of having stones/sand kicked up under the car tinging off the bottom of the car and in the wheel wells.
I was planning on getting some cheap foam to stuff into the spare tire well as well as back in the area by the taillights, but to take care of the stones hitting the wheel wells I was planning on putting some sound dedener back there in the wheel wells, under the car and then covering it with rubberized undercoat. SHould pretty much eliminate the ting ting noises as well as taking the sound level down a bit.
I was planning on using RAAMmat which seems to be the cheapest Butyl based product but wanted to check with the audio guys on here who've worked with sound deadener before to get their opinion on if this stuff will stick on vertical surfaces and upside down and stay put under the car. Also how much do you guys think I could get away with. I am thinking 75 sqft sounds like a lot until it arrives and then you realize its prob not enough.
I could also put the stuff in the car on the shock towers easily but having cut up peices of aluminum foil would look kinda tacky. I'de rather have it under the car and out of sight.
It is a race car.. but would be nice if it didnt look like ****.
The sound also seems to be a resonance thats particularly bad by the drivers head. I know for sure that sitting in the passengers seat its not as loud, or if I'm sitting in the drivers seat and I move my head a foot towards the center of the car the sound coming from the rear is reduced quite a bit.
Thanks guys

Look at this thread. The guy had good results with the spray-on(or brush-on) product "quiet car/quiet coat", and he acutally measured the sound reduction in stages.
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=Quietcoat
It's also cheaper then other spray-on sound deadeners like "lizard -skin" and much easier to apply /more effective/cheaper/lighter then the stick on mats.
