Sony headunit..
I bought a used Sony Xplod CDX-CA710X headunit from best buy yesterday, and it didn't come w/ a manual. My radio harness is cut in my 88 rx7, I already have the color codes for that, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get the color codes for the headunit wires. I had a pioneer headunit in my other car that had labels written on the wires but this one doesn't. I tried the sony website but no luck. Thanks. Ben.

Aftermarket head units share a standard for color coding.
Red - Switched 12v
Black - Ground
Yellow - Constant 12v
Grey and Grey Black
White and White Black
Green and Green Black
Purple and Purple Black
those are all speaker leads. I don't remember which one is which, but solid colors are positive leads, and black stripes are negative leads.

He is correct, testing the speaker leads is easy.
The red, black, and yellow wires are the ones to be concerned about, make sure the are well insulated from each other and have solid connections. But, if you have done this before with a Pioneer unit, then you should know that already.

A side note on the illumination circuit...
If you happen to let the 12v line from your battery get crossed with the illumination line for the stock radio...
well...
it lights up your dash lights.

OK - I work at circuit city, but I'll help you out anyhow.
Red - switched 12 v
Yellow - constant 12 v
Black - ground
Orange usually is the dimmer, so when your lights come on the deck dims
Pink (if it has it) usually is the cell phone mute
white is front driver side positive and white with black is the neg
grey is front pass side positive and grey with black is neg
green is back pass side pos
purple is driver side pos
Usually the solid blue wire is amp turn on
Blue with white is the power antenna turn on
