i just put my shortblock together wrong and (now me and the mad scientist have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried)

i forgot to put sealent on the legs and i want to go around the housings with hylomar which i didnt do..grrrrrrrr

Not using Hylomar is not a show stopper. It just helps keep the seals in place during the build.

As for the sealant around the legs...well, that's an interesting question. The sealant is there to mainly stop oil seepage from between the housings/irons. There are no huge gaps to fill, only tiny microscopic spaces. So if you can deal with a little oil seepage (maybe a few drops over a period of a few thousand miles) then you are probably OK.

well i put sealent but it was hylomar and not a silicone based sealent i really didnt know what hylomar was till i read your engine build guide
