I should check the fuel filter. It was different than the one that was on there. I figured the side that said out would be the side that the line going to the fuel rails would be.
I did mess with the idle control but to no avail. I kind of checked the fuel pump but my ohm meter died on me. I just took off the fuel line and turned the ign on. Fuel shot right out. I assume that means its working! lol
I guess I will spend all day tommorow looking for a vac line or something thats messed up. I'll keep you all posted. I have a feeling its going to be something totally stupid. I do kind of want to sell it still though. I found a descent tII I want to buy.

Ok sorry to bring up an old thread but heres the deal. I got it to start but it wont stay running still. If i do get it to start I have to floor it to keep it running. Furl filter is on right and all the vaccum lines seem ok. Any more thoughts?

from what i read on here i found out if you have a ohm meter check the tps that way, lot easyer, at what should be idle you should read about 1ohm and at wot you should read about 6ohms
i know how you feel my 89 N/A is doing the same f'in thing hahah good luck to ya also mine had a hack job done to the egr with disconect vac lines everywhere

i tested mine when it was off
the reads camne to what they should be
iu dont see why the car would have to be running as long as the ignition is on so it has power to the tps

Try the jumper near the AFM (to make the fuel pump run.) I have heard of the AFM fuel pump switch going. Otherwise, check for a great big vacuum leak (2 or 3 missing little lines or one big one.)
The rotary does have ignition timing, just not cam timing. It is easy to adjust, but if the car ran well beforehand, it should still do so (timing doesn't adjust itself.)

Hmmm... Car runs great! Mech who doesn't know rotary vehicle's tune's up car. Car will not idle now. HMMMMMMMMMMMM...I'm thinking HMMMMM.... Did you ask that mech if he touched anything else. If all is lost take it to a reputable mazda dealer or rotary specialist. There is something simple going on. tRY GOING OVER HIS WORK. Open the air box just to check. He may have left a rag in there somewhere(I've seen it before).
