Some rx7 questions
Hey guys, i am new on your forum and currently own a 1990 Nissan skyline GTST, which has been a blast to drive, for those who done know it has 220 hp, rear wheel drive, its a fun car, but i sold it and am currently looking to buy a 1989- 1991 RX7 convertble actually and i was wondering a what you guys thought of your cars. Anything i am looking at will be turbo for sure and i am hoping to still have a decently fast car, i have heard that they dont feel as fast as they really are. On the stock engine what kind of HP are they pushing and how much do they weigh? Any major problems that i should be aware as i will be importing this car from Japan, i dont htink there is anything cooler than pulling up to a party in a n RX7, with the top down and right hand drive. Just wondering baout the car a bit though. I am fairly mechanically inclined and could rebuild the engine if needed but i would like to avoid this if possible.

Theres a Turbo convertable for sale in the 2nd gen cars for sale section. Its a s4 Vert with a full TII swap done by a reputable expert.(who just did my Vert TII swap
) It is basically the same as what you would be importing from japan but left hand drive and with an already rebuilt engin with 8K miles on it and a good price. With the mods on it I'm guessing it has 230-240 hp. Gotta remmember though that the turbo convertables(more weight) will be a tad slower than a normal T2. I know mine is pretty quick and I haven't even got done breaking in my streetported rebuild.

I have a '91 Turbo and an '88 Vert. I would be having ***** and giggles if my Vert was a Turbo also. But still, the damn thing is soooo much freaking fun to drive around in. To be honest yeah it doesn't have much get up and go compared to other sevens, especially a turbo, but once it's rolling the car handles damn well. I've hung with all 3 generations and even RX-8s on backroad twisties with not much problem for the most part handling wise. Would just get my *** handed to me when we would take off from a start or they could take advantage of any extra HP they had to scoot. A stock vert new was 145 hp for an '88 and maybe 165 for the 89-91 models and had a 391(?) gear so it doesn't pull as much. If and when I ever have to rebuild mine, I going to be giving some serious consideration to doing a full turbo swap on it. It's just too damn tempting on a car that is too damn much fun.

The 'vert is a fair bit heavier than the coupe, cos the factory had to find ways to stiffen the chassis somehow. The upside to this, is the 'vert has very little 'scuttle shake' compared to most other convertibles. Bob
