Some questions for ya :)
I got N/A S4 cluster. I got S5 TII engine. That means some of the wire harness is swapped, some is not.
I want to get the S5 cluster, as the S4 is ugli(er). Also, my lights are blinking in the cluster (and the rest of the car, might be a faulty switch), and my gauges are way off mostly. The S5, is it using mechanical speedo, or is it electrical? When I got mechanical, is it hard getting the (probably) electrical from S5 to work? What do I need?
Taking out the air vents in the center console. The plastic tubes going thru the dash. I am planning on two gauges there, but I am not sure if I can take the tubes out easily, or if I have to cut some of the plastic out first.

Both S4 and S5 use a mechanical speedometer; no electric speedos. In order to use an S5 cluster, you'll have to re-pin your cluster harness connectors. Take a look at the S4 and S5 wiring diagrams to see what I mean. http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual.
There's also some info on switching the wires here: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...o_s5_swap.html.
Problems with existing cluster may be due to improper re-wiring of the front harness connector at the ECU. S4s and S5s have little in common when it comes to wiring/sensors/ECUs.
For the ducting behind the vents, I think you would need to pull the dash to get them out without cutting. You could also just block the openings off so you don't have to permanently damage anything.
