i'm not digging the kits that look like a girl when she "curtsies." is that what its called when a girl grabs the sides of her dress and kneels before a dance? some of em were nicer than others. too many i dont see how they could be driven unless theyre sitting on bags.

Umm if you look carefully you'll see that a few of those cars have rollcages and equipment specific for racing or drifting. Racecars RARELY maintain the identical appearance of their road-going cousins for performance reasons. You can say you don't like them but more then often there is reasoning behind their modified appearance. You wouldn't like my car either but on the other hand you aren't going to see it one the street. Each to their own but don't dis on car that appears different for the right reasons.

how about this: it looks as though they sit so low the tires would rub the fender.
a lot of people act like everything on some cars is "specific towards racing." sorry if i doubt that here and there. and obviously racecars look different than street cars. i never attack wings on racecars (okay, rarely) because i understand they have function. please though, somebody, explain to me why the car needs to be wearing a skirt all the way around. face it, some **** is for looks and show. *sleepy eyes*
does this not look like it would rub hardcore?? is it just me?

that also brings me back to airbags. easy to slam. but not exactly widely used in racing.. or is it ?!

I think he meant the cars are just for show. and whoever said those bodykits have specific racing applications has to be kidding. why would you add a skirt that will do nothing more than directly oppose air from flowing around a car.
some of the cars looked good and had body modifications that actually would benefit the car's drag coefficient, but most were for show and looked stupid in my opinion.

well wouldnt show be a purpose all in itself?
like drifting - not only is it just the technique and everything, but cars are supposed to be both show and go - although i dont know if that caught on here in the states.
then again... slammed cars to the point where they'd rub - nothing but show

we're talking performance. not to mention just about everyone had something negative to say about the looks.
here's how it went: 'look at these cars.' 'those cars are ugly.' 'those cars have performance upgrades.' 'some of that isn't performance, just looks.' so the "show" failed and i'm not buying that the funny lookin kits are performance.
cars can be show and go. hell, most are. i dont exactly see how it hasn't caught on. custom paint jobs, for example, are alive and well and have been since god knows when.
as for show, though, it depends what you mean. drifting is a very different sport. most racing isnt concerned with unnecessities except paint jobs and sponsor stickers. drifting, all that i know, isnt timed. i'm not gonna say the funny kits hurt performance, just arent necessary.

look closer. on some of them the headlights are ripped out and the intake is routed for cold air.

heh, i'm not gonna lie, i like these light styles.
i dont like the broke eye look. i guess it doesnt look too bad out on the track, but other than that it bothers me.

I feel sorry for all but 2 of those FC's. WTF is up with the skirt look? I really wonder how people can look at these cars they've created an think "damn...that looks nice". I mean we all have different taste, but thats like fantasizing about Janet Reno.

I'll just add my 2 cents here. Okay, as most of us know. The Japanese are kind of different as far as their show scene goes. Don't get me wrong, they do have some beautiful cars. But most of those cars that those pics are of, are actual race or shop cars. Its all about getting noticed. Look at some of the things we put on our cars.
Hell who better than Americans should know that. I mean, have you all noticed the over population of civics & the recent spring in Supras after a certain...movie(which I still say the FD & the Supra should've raced)? I may be wrong, but most of the drift cars spend most of their time sliding side ways so the skirts would cause air to flow over them in all directions instead of having it go under their cars. Looks are hella important in Japan & in drifting(as far as the top drifters are concerned). Why else(beside reputation) would Yosio paink all of his cars pink?
The kits you all are talking about with the "skirt" are BN Sport kits. They do that to all of their cars(Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, etc...). Their Blister kit is not a kool looking, but thats mainly because it invovles making everything HUGE(and thats an understatement). All this comes down to is, think about where these cars are from. Japan, well most of them anyway. I could tell you it is rare you'd see them on the street, but I don't know that to make that comment. But, its just like Eminem, either you like him or hate him. But, either way you're giving him the attention he needs to stay alive.
