So whoever said 235's is the limit lied.
I just went out and got some used tires for some rims Ive had laying around for a year or two now. Originaly I wanted 235/40/17's in the front and just whatever they had for the rear. They had 2 245/40 and 2 255/40. I always hear on here that a 235 is as big as you can go. So I put my rims on there with no tires and felt that I had about a fingers width worth of room for tires. So I thought to myself theres only one way to see for sure if itll work. So heres how the 245's fit in the front.
I can almost get my fingers in between the tire and coil over. So i got to looking over at the 255 i had on the other rims and I thought, na the sidewall budges out to much. Ah what the hell I'll throw them on to see how big of a spacer i would need along with fender to get them on. Heres how they fit with NO SPACER.
Now it is kinda close. Im not sure how well the picture shows it but there is some room in there, although that is about as close as id like to get. Sweet so 255's fit on the front with GC coilovers kyb agx and no wide fenders. Although as youll see there are even with the outside of the fender or stick out just a hair depending on how you look at it. Heres some pics of it with it jacked up to ride height witht he 255 on there.
Those rims are off of a 96-98 mustang gt. The way I see it, there cheap, light, and almost the perfect size. So in closing you can get 255's on the fornt if you want but its really close inside and your gonna have to roll the fenders on anything at and above a 245. Now all we need to know is the offset of these 17x8 inch rims.

Drive it around so the suspension compresses and then take a picture of how much space you have. Also they'd probably rub under hard cornering. How much negative camber are you running up front? Also a side note some tires although the same size will be wider than others.
Not trying to knock you down by any means but all this plays a factor into whether or not this will work for someone else.

The 245s on the front have plenty of room for compressing, driving around, and tire differences while the 255s probably do not. I know I have some negative camber after lowering the car and I will be getting a alignment sometime soon. But the tire to spring clearence really shouldnt change with camber adjustment.

But the problem (and the thing that I find bogus about this whole post) is that you (crusader) are using a mustang wheel with a 22mm offset.
Of course you can fit that tire in there, your offset is so F@#Ked up it anything would fit in there.
And as a complete side note, Crusader, your signature is in violation of both the forum rules and the 2nd gen techincal section rules. 6 lines is all you are allowed. Fix it before it is deleted.

What offset would you recomend for a 8 inch wheel on the front and why? Sure its a "Mustang" wheel but its a 8 inch rim that fits really good the way I see it. I dont really see how one offset is better than another if the rim fits on the car just the way you want it. Would you prefer the rim have a stock offset and rub the suspensioin or some other offset and sit out of the fender?

I am not sure where Icemark is getting the 22mm offset figure for your wheels. I think they are either 28 or 30mm. Do you know how much your wheels weigh?
This style of mustang 17x8 wheel (below) has a 30mm offset. I had to roll the fenders, but they fit fine otherwise. I also removed the inner fender lining which gave me more clearance vertically.
I have a set for the street and a set with race-tires. They are great!

I was told that my wheels weighed 17lbs; however, I weighed them personally on a certified postal scale to be 23lbs each.

The 8 inch wide Mustang wheel is typically 28mm to 30mm depending on who makes it and if it is OEM or not.
That pushes the wheel out about an 3/4 of a inch over stock. Of course the tires would fit. You can fit fit a 225 on a 48 mm offset 7 inch wheel, so adding/using a 245 is less than 1 inch wider but pushed out 1 inch more.

Uhh.. even with the 255s I still have traction problems. But not half as many as I had with the 225s.. I would consider the 255 tire choice more of a performance selection then a looks one.

As far as I know, the OEM strut is the item that causes the limitation and I do not believe the pics show OEM struts but much narrower aftermarket struts. Factor in the offset on the wheels, and it's no miracle at at that those wheels/tires fit. But you may destroy that tire's outside shoulder if you haven't rolled your fenders.

I didn't lie.
It's just that you can't go making blanket statements like that without trying ALL 235 wide tires.
I've always claimed 225 will fit easily up front - there is nothing wrong with that statement.
If you can fit 235's, 245's, or 255's up front, then so be it, but don't claim ALL 235's will fit up front.
The pics looks like it'll easily compress onto the fender lip, thus, the fender needs rolling to handle that kinda width.
You're lucky the 235 and the 255 don't have bulging sidewalls - sorry to tell you, but some other brands / models of tires do.
BTW, those Michelins you're running up front...Michelins are known to have rather straight sidewalls.
Try some Bridgestone or Dunlops in 235 size up front sometime and get back to us...
So stop making idiotic threads like this...

I did roll the fender lips so dont worry about that. The 255s that I put on the front for ***** and giggles were dunlops. When I had stock rims and tires they would compress into the fender lip in turns. So the way I see every wheel and tire combo can which doesnt really make that a factor to me.
So in the future I'll make whatever thread I want.
