so what really does it take for a n/a to beat a turboII
i was wondering cuz the et qm times are diff by like .3-.5 sec. so would it take a few minor mods of a few major mods???

heh..well port you motor do all the mods you can...exhaust (headers, duals or straight though), e-fan, loose a/c, p/s airpump, TB mod, safc, custom cold air induction...and definatly as much wieght redux as you can...but you still won't be able to hang with a modded TII, maybe stock or semi stock

damn but about that throttle body mod how do you do that witha n/a i started doing it but then found out stuff was kinda wrong cuz what i was reading was for a tII

Add a supercharger... however, the work it would require might be cheaper just to go turbo.
Then you've got the Unf! right when you press the pedal, not waiting for the turbo to kick in at higher rpms.
Hmm, this makes me curious... anyone know of any races of a supercharged FC vs. a turbo FC in the 1/4?

Just hope a semi-truck runs into the back of you at like 90mph to give you a little speed boost.
seriously though, nitrous is a very serious option for the rotary engine, as well as some porting and everything else BlackRX7.

I'm sure a turbo would have more potential for power just because boost does not necessarily require rpm to be generated like with a centrifical supercharger. But when I do put forced induction on my NA it will be with a Paxton just for the instant (though modest) boost.
My goal for my base NA FC is to match the stock FD 1/4 time. But I will be using race rubber, street port, all the mods trying to match a virgin FD never touched by enthusiasts' hands.
It would only take a few mods for any turbo II or FD to totally kick my car's a$$ though.

Seriously though, i'm not an expert - far from it. I'm talking from a technical stand point of a typical turbocharged engine vs. supercharged.
Would you argue that the supercharged engine would "take off" faster than the turbo charged?

BTW, Camden superchargers (all of them?) aren't centrifugal - I'd recommend going with those on your 13b. I was reading about them on Atkins site last week, very cool, wish I had the money.

supercharger engines have the power instantly, but it takes power to make power, I believe there was a test that it actually took 54 hp to supercharge a 4.6 liter mustang that pumped out around 400hp to the flywheel...and a turbo charger uses the exhuast gases to to make power so it adds on to the current power..much more effiecent, twin turbo V8's one day I will own a twin turbo vett....

Very true about superchargers using power from the flywheel hp while turbos theoretically do not. Turbos do restrict exhaust somewhat which reduces power in its own way but I doubt as badly as a supercharger.
Anyhow, no turbo lag is a sweet thing. I would hope to maintain the silky smooth power band of my NA rotary by supercharging it. And I am a backwards kind of RX-7 enthusiast.

Beating a T11 is easier than you think and very possible without Streetporting at all. I made 158rwp in my N/A and shifting at 8600 rpms with couple hundred lbs weight reductjion and your set. Seriously T11 are no match for my ****. Now with my new port its all over
Put it this way. T11 are 15.1-15.3 second cars. N/As modded (no streetport) have got around 14.6 full interior and no standalone , no porting although some striped with stand alone and stock ports have made 14.2 wich is what my friends did in an 87base...The stand alone makes a big difference.

durrr von I'll Kill you in the 1/4..how many stock turbos are there also..just an intake will give you atleast 20hp...and exhaust as much as 60hp......I've know stock S5 tII that run 14.1s!!!!!!!!!

Well I'd like to see a slightly modded TII keep up with a S5NA with lots of weight reduction, streetported, exh, etc etc..heavily modded pretty much, then throw in a 75shot or so. Although yet again like someone said, not really NA anymore once you add the bottle...but oh well....I think that kind of setup could kick some royal *** to unsuspecting victims thinking your just some NA rx-7... But a heavily modded TII will stomp that setup so meh, whatever....

A ported N/A with intake, full exhaust, and all the other goodies (no emmisions, removed 6port system, etc)will definatly beat a stock TII, even mildy modded.
My 90 GXL (heavy!) ran 1/4 in the 14's before the turbo.

If you have a S4 intake... upgrade to a S5 where it doesn't need backpressure from the CATS to operate the Auxilliary Ports.... after that a racing beat header and straight piping... no muffler.... remove weight.... and a good intake filter element.... I think that should do it.... Turbo lag is where the weak point of a TII, so hit it hard from the start.... show no mercy.... cuz once it kicks in.... by then hope that you cross your ending point....

Ill tell you what it takes: $.
Not that it matters. You spend $3000 to make your car as fast, or faster than a TII, then ill spend $30 on a manual boost controller, set it, and again be faster than you.. You'll then get owned, only you'll be $3000 poorer this time. After you cry we can go get a beer.
