so i thought my brakes were worn out...

as i was rolling in a parking lot, i noticed that my rear driver's side wheel was making alot of screeching noises. so i thought my brakes were worn out. i took a good look at the wheel and noticed it has negative camber. my car has no suspension mods or anything so i was kind of puzzled. i went home and replaced my brake pads. turns out that theres lots of life on the pads but i noticed that the pads were not worn out straight but had a slant ot it. i asked 2 of my friends and one of them said that i should just replace the whole hub. another said it could just be a bad wheel bearing.

any ideas?

Check the caliper slides. If one hangs up, could cause uneven pad wear.

My brakes are sometimes great and other times screech like hell from the rear. I read somewhere that it could just be abnormal dust from cheap pads but nothing bad. I've noticed that it sometimes also make the "crunching" sound even when the brakes are off and I'm pulling away. It sounds uneven, like only from one spot as the wheel turns (chunk chunk chunk). What could my problem be and is this really bad?

^i get that too. it's kinda wierd. i thought it was because i don't have the rods in the front calipers. the prev. owner of them just took two parts of a wire coat hanger + bent it in there to hold them. it seems to work well. *shrugs*

so replacing the wheel bearing will also fix the camber of my wheel? i don't really know much about suspension so any feedback would be great.

Jack the affected corner of the car up. Grab the top of the tire with one hand and the bottom with the other. Push and pull trying to rock the tire in and out at the top and bottom. If you can move the tire then you probably have a bad wheel bearing. If so stop driving the car before you hurt yourself and fix it!

Is is expensive to fix? How do you fix it or is it a mechanic's job. I'm poor so I hope it's cheap.
