So I removed the LIM and aux port sleeves... AUGH!!!
Ok.. SO i removed the LIM today... had some trouble until I realised there were 4 bolts and two nuts. Oh well, after I got it all off (and broke off too oil injector lines...
Well.. I honestly have to say I thought it would be cleaner than this.
I pulled out the actuator sleeves. I felt kinda like I was removing uradium cylinders from a nuclear bomb. Mmm.. anyway were they supposed to be that easy to remove? I hope so, I just grabbed the bar that crosses the inside of the aux sleeve and pulled and it slid out all nice and smooth.
So anyway, I think that I found my most dirty parts on the car todate. The LIM is covered in... well grease/crap/mud/combustion material/ect. Interestingly enough, although the sleeves are "clean" in a way that i could wipe them down, the inside of them is covered in dirt and grease and what not. Kinda disturbing, I thought these were going to be somewhat clean.
So... aren't they supposed to be clean?
Concidentaly the aux sleeves are alot larger than I'd thought they would be.
One last thing... the aux port actuators are stuck fast. Any good ideas of getting them free'd and cleaning up the lim?
Thanks!!
Kent
Wish I had my digital camera!!

Yep, they usually have some sort of carbon build-up on them. It shouldnt be all *that* bad (maybe some at the very ends, and a little on the sides, as well as on the inside) Just soak them in engine degreaser for a bit, and they should then be able to be whiped clean..

well.. it looks like ive got some downtime with the lim, due to one of the actuators being bad. Any ideas what to do with it other than shove it in the closet for a week?

Note to others reading this thread:
The sleeves don't usually stick. It's usually the the actuator rods.
Penetrating oil will usually help wiggle them loose.
Handle the old brittle oil injection lines like they were made of glass.
