Smoking after startup
Ok guys, lend me your wisdom
I have a 90 turbo2 with 69,000 miles all original. It runs great, boosts too well and lots of power. Does not smoke while driving. But...when I park it after a run (sometimes a hard run sometimes an easy one) and go to start it again it happens. It will fire right up then maybe 30seconds to a minute into the warmup again it almost seems to bog a bit (like its choked) and I will get a decent amount of white smoke for maybe 15-20 secs then it goes away. When this is happening the color of the carbon buildup in my apexi N1 dual exhaust actually changes from a black to a warmed up grey. It looks like its wet in the tips. Now the previous owner had tapped into the 02 sensor wire for a A/F guage then removed it. The wire is not in good shape (frayed a bit) so I wrapped it in electrical tape temporary. If you bump the wire the check engine light will come on and if you bump it again it will go off. I have it now where it will stay off. QUESTION???? Is it the 02 sensor that is causing the mixture to get all f*cked up and cause the smoke or do I have a bad seal somewhere? Or is it leaking injectors. Ive run cleaner through them. Help!!! Thanks all.

Sounds normal enough. Mine does that sometimes too. Yeah, a bad/disconnected O2 sensor will screw up the mixture and trigger the CE light.
While the car is running, look into your overflow reservoir (coolant) and make sure there are no bubles surging in it. If there are, then you'll need a rebiuld soon. You'd also be loosing cooland and getting gas and oil in the coolant. ... If, hopefully, none of these things are happening, don't worry about it.

Ok, checked the overflow tank. No bubbles, no oil, no fumes. I forgot to mention that when it starts to smoke is when my idle gets a bit jumpy. Like a 100-150rpm jump up and down. Then when it warms up a bit more, idle smooths out to 750 and smoke stops. Could it be the TPS? Is is maybe a corrosion or "deadspot" on it? Thanks dre_2000.

I have the same issue with the white smoke but it happens sooner during startup on my 89 TII.
I have found various items saying that it is coolant in the engine and this is due to a water seal break/crack.
I will be using some Radiator Stop Leak stuff soon to see if this fixes the issue.
I feel no loss of power but my "add coolant" light and buzzer come on some time if the car is still and @ low rpm.
i just push it up to 2k rpm and the buzzer stops.
