slow throttle response
my car has very slow throttle response. when the car is in neutral and i floor it , it will then take a few seconds, about 2 seconds
tps is good , afm running good but my idle is way up about 2k. i have set it before to about 1k and there is even more poor throttle response when it is set like that ? anyone have an idea to what it could be? n e help will be appreciated
thanks guys

what is a typical idle? 1k? mine idles at 2k. Also which way turns down your idle. I turned it ccw. Is there an auto choak? I've been getting *** for gas mileage and i think if i have achock it might be suck on.

i do have bad gas mileage and i have new spark plugs and fairly new wires. cone air filter isnt that bad . fuel filter was changed about 6k miles ago . timing is pretty right on i think. well n e other suggestions? ohh and ccw is the way my idle goes up also... but what would that mean ?
well thanks again

Per FSM, stock idle is 750. If you're mileage sucks, you're running rich. Running too rich will hurt power (see poor throttle responce). Leaky injectors? Worn seals? Which screw are you using to adjust your idle speed?

You have fuel injection, so you don't have a choke. Choke's are for those arcaic carb setups some people insist on using. Yes, your rebuild could be involved. You shouldn't be romping on the gas untill you have at least 1k mi on it, and preferably 5k.

I HAVE ABOUT 4K bro should be almost broken in by now it flooded b4 the rebuild and now after! shouldnt be doin that ... leaky injector?

If you were flooding before the rebuild, and still are, look first at the injectors.
As for the slow throttle response. Check and make sure the plugs aren't gummed from the flooding, and make sure the wires go to the right plugs. Check air and fuel filters.

a 2 second hesitation in my experience has almost always been due to running rich. Not just leaky injectors but poor tuning. Find a shop that can analyze your exhaust, maybe on a dyno, and find out for sure.
Your idle is way too high and should be very steady somewhere between 750-800 (some people like it up a bit higher).
Once you get your air/fuel mixture straightened out, the throttle body mod makes a noticeable difference as well. Basically it involves removing the 2ndary throttle plates and porting out the front half.
Another thing to try right now is clean your Air Flow Meter. Take it off and hose down the inside really well with carb cleaner. Make sure the flapper moves freely. If it is super dirty in there, it could be adding extra resistance to the flapper door making it slower to open, less air = running richer temporarily. Good luck.
