Ok. The splits do look a bit better for 1-3 if you're running that kinda power. The only stock T56s that have the 1:1 5th are the early (93-94 F-Bodies). The rest have an overdrive 5th and .50 6th. The early tranny has quite a bit lower torque rating. And having had a couple later T56s, does a turbo rotary really make enough torque below 2000 rpm to use the 6th gear for cruising? When will you use it then? With a LT1 5th is good for around 150 mph. You've got more revs but less rear gear so it should be a wash. Do you really need to exceed 150?

Why not use the stock 5 speed and a taller rear gear? With the stock 4:10s your gonna blow the tires off in first gear no matter what trans you're using. Gear would be cheaper and easier.

When would I use it? TOP SPEED RUNS!
The lower gear ratio would allow me to hit top speed and not be 1000 rpms above redline.
As well, it would be easier to hit redline with an OD split (5th and 6th) than with just with a lower gear ratio in a Mazda 5 speed.
Make sense?

As Mad Max would say "Speed is a matter of money, how fast do you want to go?"

Update!

OK, here is what I think I have figured out. The chevy version aftermarket BW T56 will bolt up to a stock chevy BW T5 housing.
The available adapter plates are for the ford version BW T5.

Since the BW T5 in the mustang was different then the BW T5 in the camaro, there is no way the available adapter plates will work.

Looks like I will be doing it custom after all....

Yeah that sucks... You couldnt find an adapter plate for the chevy one?
Someone should make one, I mean they make one for the ford, why not the chevy?
I'll have a look around, see if I can find anything at all for yah.
