silver air thingy under air box??

Question silver air thingy under air box??

Ok i am making a home made cold air box and want to know what the air flow meter thingy does adn if i really need it.. if i do need it in line can i move it up higher if i cannot by pass it?? also what should i do with the line for the air pump that used to be hooked to the air box?? should i just put a breather on it?? any other suggestions and info would help greatly.. also is there a place that sells an adapter so i can put my filter on to the air flow meter.. the filter has a 3in hole and a water bypass thingy on it... thanks for all the help, Dave

it meausures the amount of air entering the engine and compensates with the correct amount of fuel. and yes you need it very much, unless you plan on buying a stand alone ECU

yes, you need the air flow meter...i think it has to be positioned a certain way to so the flapper isn't stuck open all the time.....my intake kit included a little k&N breather for the air pump and i think www.k2rd.com sells an adapter for your meter, cept i don't think its 3 inch....

You need to keep the AFM. It must be oriented in the factory way (black part up) to keep the flapper door operating correctly.
