Should a TPS read like this?
I tested my TPS with the lights and it checked-out. Then with an ohm-meter. It levels out between .996 and 1.006 k-ohms when warm.
That's all OK. But...
When you open the throttle, the resistance increases-- that's good, but at WOT, when the TPS is completely released, the ohm-meter reads ~1.005 k-ohms! Is this normal? What should a TPS read under WOT? I think mine is bad and I don't know where I left my spare.

No, I didn't unplug it. Instructions I found said to tap into the back side of the connector to test it. That's what I did. Is it supposed to read 5k ohms unplugged, or plugged in?

Yes, its better to put the meter leads into the back of the conector. But you also need to unplug your tps....
