Should My Injectors be opening before I crank?
When I turn my key to the on position I can hear my injector solenoids opening (clicking). If I insert the EGI fuse with the ignition on, I can hear them clicking also.
My question: Is this right? Can someone tell if thier 7 does this also? If this is wrong, what would cause this?
I can barely get my engine to start, and if it does, it runs so rich it will make you cry. It is a 1990 GTU.
All help is appreciated. (I searched the forums for an hour and could not find anything related).
Thanks,
Cardio

The ECU fires the injectors according to engine position and speed info receive from the CAS. If the ECU is opening the injectors when the engine (and hence the CAS) is not even turning, something is seriously wrong.

If its a constant rapid clicking, try removing the plug from the bac. The bac moves at approx 125hz. And by the way if you put a spare fuel injector on that plug while the engine is idling, the injector will pulse rapidly(just putting thoughts in heads out there).

This may be related to flooding troubles as you would get this if you pumped the accelerator with the key in on, before starting.

Well,
My automotively inclined Uncle came in town this week. He was only here for a day before he brought my 7 back to life. Apparently my Metering Oil Pump Wiring Harness was bad. I happened to have a spare laying around (not perfect, but still a substitute), and after placing the new harness on, the car fired right up. NO SMOKE, NO FUEL COMING OUT THE EXHUAST. However it was severley out of tune from my frantic adjustments. An hour later, it was idling perfectly.
So, the good new is my engine is not blown. The bad news is, that I am still getting a code 27 after it idles for a while. I have trouble believing that the three MOP's I have used are all bad. They all pass the continuity tests, etc. So, I fear I have a long road of wiring tests in front of me.
If any one has had this happen to them (perfect idle, then a code 27), let me know your solution. I will be ordering a new Wiring harness for my MOP to eliminate that possibility.
MY CAR IS ALIVE!!!!------YAY!!!!

I don't think it's the injectors.. I heard it too before on my TurboII, I'm 99% sure it's something else, but yeah it DOES come from that kinda area, under the intercooler (er.. upper intake manifold area)
