I guess that the peice has to fit inside of the main bolt down part, and be level with it at the bottom right? I was told that it just has to help hold the factory bushing in place. I think I willl try to make it from a peice of PVC pipe, do you see any problems with that? I can`t imagine it will get hot enough to melt the pipe and from what I understand there is actually no force on it from the shift stick to wear it out.

Or am I wrong? BTW, I think $150 shipped is a good price for a new hand made shifter kit.

i am not sure pvc will be best choice, but u will not find if u`ll not try it some our transmissions are getting warm enought to deform (not melt, but make it soft) PVC....but there are other types of plastic pipes used for hot water piping in house which could work...
even u`ll get it working, i would not suggest to keep it plastic.....once u will be sure about dimensions, get some steel or alu one.....it will not worn....

part u are missing is holding bushing AND its lenght depends on lenght of lower part of shifter...
(ID is same like bushings ID, OD have to fit into bigger ring)

my kits are not HAND made but CNC machined

Ok, I see, I just don`t have a lot of ability to make one from metal, but I do worry about the plastic. I am trying to find one but just buying the one part is not easy.

NA6/NA8CE (and most probably NB8C) Miata factory **** will fit both S4/S5. I know officially the Miata **** shares S5/FD3S thread, but I've tried the Miata **** on S4s as well. The inners of the Miata **** is actually lined with plastic, not machined metal. You just got twist a lil harder and the **** will go all the way down (like a good gf). Be a man.

If people want OEM 1st gen Miata *****, I'm sure I can find a way to get a bunch. They're pistol-grip shaped and weighed on top. Much better than the OEM S4 crap.

Got my shortshifter today. Looks great, hIGGI, thanks.

Might want to think about using FedEX for shipping tho, it took a little to long getting here.

i have no problem to ship fedex, but it will be around $60 more (what i don`t consider cost effective)

Pulleys and stuff usually takes only about week or 10 days to get to USA by air mail..

Maybe Big George was testing shifter if its not saddam's secret weapon ;o)))

I just read all five pages as well...seems like a good thing to me. Unfortunately as someone mentioned before, I'm not currently in good enough standings on my financial matters to buy anything like this (engine rebuild comes first).

Heya Higgi, I'm interested in a short shifter and am ready to buy.
PM me when you have one ready to sell.

No, $60 isn't very cost effective, and the problems i experienced was probably due to the crack-pipe-smoking-mailmen of philly.

How the hell can they give me a delivery attempt slip that says FINAL NOTICE when i never got the first notice? Quite an organization they run over there; god damn, lazy, good for nothing, sons of bitches, <profanity>, <profanity>, etc.
