shooting flames... are they loud or silent?
when you guys who are shooting flames out your exhaust...
is it accompanied by the usual huge bang of afterburn,
or does that only happen when the mixture is ignited inside the exhaust pipes?
ive been looking at videos of people's cars that shoot flames, and i havent heard a single ka-pow out of them.
ive gotta think that the only bangs would be caused by the expanding air hitting the sides of the exhaust pipe (or inside the muffler) and in that case, would that mean there is a leak in the exhaust introducing extra air?
if you have a rich exhaust mixture coming through the pipes, shouldnt it really only ignite on contact with the oxygen-rich air outside the back?
i have had a guy following me say that he could see flames in my exhaust pipe (and i hear some hellacious bangs every now and then) but he said no flamage out the back. so i was just wondering...
actual shooting flames... loud noise or not?

When I just had gutted cats and performance mufflers it would backfire like crazy but I decided no to be cheap and got a whole new exhaust system with Down/Midpipe and now I get some nice flammage. You can sort of hear it sometimes but its not annoying or anything.
