Shifting Problem

Got in my car the other day and noticed that when i moved from gear to gear that the car was shifting rather roughly. Then a few miles down the road i noticed the clutch wasnt doing anything at all. I bled the system but it didnt do any good. I just had the clutch and pressure plate replaced a year ago, does it need to be replaced again??

Need to be more speciic. The "clutch wasn't doing anything at all" - Do you mean that there is no resistance to the pedal when you step on it, or does it feel as it usually does but the clutch itself doesn't disengage? Is there fluid in the clutch master cylinder reservoir? Is there fluid leaking anywhere from the clutch hydraulic system? If the engine is running, and the trans is in neutral, can you depress the clutch pedal and put it in gear without grinding? Can you shift into ANY of the gears without difficulty when moving?

The clutch feels normal but doesnt disengage. Their is fluid in the clutch master cylinder and it has a had a small leak somewhere over the past month or so. When i'm trying to put the car in gear it is running in neutral and i cant select any gear whatsoever or else it will automatically engage and stall.

Where was it leaking from? I had the one way valve in the clutch master cylinder go ou on me, it was a similar problem, but not as drastic. Have you rebuilt/replaced the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder lately?

Seeing how rebuild kits for the master and slave cylinder only cost lik $25 combined at pep boys, I would try rebuilding them first to eliminate all doubts... if that doesnt work, then you probably have to pull the tranny... did you replace the throwout bearing when you replaced the clutch? also, did you observe the condition of the fork when you were changing the clutch?

One way to see if it's the clutch hydrolics, is to have a friend press on the clutch while you're looking at the slave cylinder plunger. If it dosn't move, your master/slave is shot. If it moves normal, it's something wrong with the clutch mechanical.
