Several ISSUES that the dealer's gonna have to fix....

My car (when in 3rd 4th or 5th) at low speeds ( 20-45mph ) does a slight "bog" sound followed by mild jerking....seems fuel related. The car is in desperate need of adjustments to the TPS, O2 sensor replacement, and just a good tuning. Would this problem be realted to those things? The car runs REALLY rich...(o2 sensor is not hooked up) REALLY RICH! BURNS my eyes. Has anyone taken their car to the dealer for the tps adjustment and tuning? I am wondering if my 6th ports are stuck openn or closed or something because i am getting 12mpg's..... THe car is fast and accels great, it has a rebuild with a streetport. Is this typical behavior of a streetported motor? Any help would be appreciated. I don't have the equiptment to do the tps adjust on my own and i am not very familiar with FI cars. This is my first 2nd gen and i only have had 1st gen carbed cars...thanks..

if the car seems to accel great/is fast all the way up to near redline, then your ports probably are working right.

your o2 sensor only matters for low load driving, ie cruising on the freeway. the ecu will check it and throw it in a closed loop mode to save you like 3mpg or so i hear.

do you have a catalytic converter? if not...your car doesn't have to be running insanely rich to burn your eyes, but i guess you'd know that from your first gen, unless it has a catalytic converter .

how do your spark plugs look? you can tell if its running extremely rich from checking them out. if they are black and covered with tons of buildup then your on the rich end. also when did you last change them?

Change your spark plugs every other week? That is horrible. Do they get drenched in gas or just really burnt up?

lean would be more like white looking, black buildup is carbon from rich. is your car running on the original fuel system?

Actually, this sounds a lot like a bad tps. Real bad. Might try replacing with a junkyard special first before you do anything expensive.

Maybe something is wrong with your cat. That could explain your bogging and bad gas mileage. It could also be causing excessive carbon build up as it cant pass through the cat fast enough.

You know that could be it too......I am getting a lot of carbon "soot" all over the tail lenses.... maybe the cat or the rb mufflers have collapsed upon themselves...inside.... I know the mufflers are a bit rough....showing age... But now that you say that ...the "broken" o2 sensor keeps pooping off (long story) like there is a lot of back pressure and there doesn't seem to be enough pressure comming out of the tailpipes.... I have a replacement cat, and i may just remove the mufflers all together to see if it fixes the problem.. thanks a pantload guys....
