Setting Ignition timing to 5 ATDC
I would like to know how i can set my Ignition timing to 5ATDC , i only bought the most basic timing gun. I've never used one before in my life , so i connect the signal or u call inductive lead to the front leading plug right?
then flash it on the crank pulley.... do i follow the red or yellow mark? and how do u guys know it was off by how many degrees?
thanks so much

Flash it at the pulley with a fully hot engine. The yellow mark should align with the fixed pointer. If it does not align, then loosen the cas cinch bolt/nut and rotate the cas until the yellow hash mark aligns with the fixed pointer.
IF the light flashes in a irregular pattern and does not flash in a consistant manner, then try to reverse the way the inductive clamp is attached to the sparkplug wire. That usually will make the light flash in a more consistant pattern.
That's with the clamp on the LEAD plug wires.
If you put the clamp on the TRAIL coils and the #1trail plug wire, the red hash mark should align with the fixed pointer.
