Thanks for the info guys. I'd say that the install at the location where I did it, though not the best location worked out alright.

It really doesn't matter where it's mounted, as long as you have a good understanding of what the temps should be at that particular location. Anything wrong with the coolant system will show up as exaggerated temps, no matter what location the sensor's at, except maybe at the heater circuit mentioned earlier...Heck, even one mounted at the drain valve location at the bottom of the rad is going to give you an idea of how she's cooling once the t-stat pops...
Yes, that's a really good point to remember.
Through my experience, I find that once you start smelling the coolant, it's getting too hot.
My gauge typically shows above 230F, and this is already getting into the bad zone.
I've noticed this with several other FC's, so that's a good sign that you're getting too hot.

Just as an update, the gauge has worked fine and I haven't had any problems and its been giving the same readings as posted above. Has worked fine.
