Hey Nate, explain something to me, how is he trying to help me by selling me his used transmission with 115k miles on it? Let me ask you this Nate, would you buy a used transmission in your ride that had 115k on it?? Lets just assume he never, ever, grind-ed a single gear! The fact still remains that there is 115k miles on it and its prob only got another 50k.....I understand people are trying to help me and i appreciate it. I have been using this forum for quite some time and have received a lot of help. I have also been proactive and growth orientated, but i asked a simple question, " where can I find a NEW transmission from a website like Mazda-Trix?" If i wanted to buy a used transmission with over 100k on it i would have went to the classifieds and posted there; per forum rules. So go ahead, say wtf but I'm sure you'd be saying the same **** if not worse...

really? lol first off you didn't read all the posts. secondly I don't have a T2 its a 1986 n/a base. Please explain to me how you think i would be saving money by buying someones grinded up transmission? I would probably just have to replace it again in a year! Would you really take someones word and send them $100 for the transmission then another 2-3 hundred to have it shipped and hope that its in the alleged condition? Idk about you but that sounds like an awfully big risk... Tell you guys what show me a good N/A transmission with pictures for my year 86 and I'll consider it. Under 100k

115k on a manual tranny isnt ****. You act like its goin to last only a few months. Go spend your life saving on a brand new trans and regret it or buy a perfectly working fine used trans. Talk about selling the car because of the work involved but wants to buy a brand new tranny? SMFH

OP, you're digging your own grave.
I can probably find you a used transmission within a few hours drive from you or less than $150. Everyone's right, you can pull an N/A trans by yourself and reinstall it by yourself. They are plentiful and cheap. Try to see the car it came out of, if you can't, buy one from a veteran member on the forum.
The last time I heard of a new trans being bought, the price was $1,500. If you're made of money, go for it. In my opinion it's not worth it for your 26 1/2 year old car. You seem like a kid who doesn't make a lot of money at his job and values his money, that's good! But it is no reason to bad mouth veteran members who have been through the same walk of life and are giving you advice you will probably give others in the future.
Buy a used trans and get some nice fluid for it, or have yours rebuilt for $700-$1000. A new one is just not worth it.
My trans is still for sale. It's the closest you're going to get to new for the most reasonable price. Those are 22k original miles on the gear set, not rebuilt miles.

Given that I doubt the existence of a NIB NA trans (and can't even imagine the price if I'm wrong), I'd think that gmpaul's most logical course would be a full rebuild of the trans he already has.
It will be hideously expensive but does provide him the assurance of quality he seems to require.
I must reiterate that this seems a very counterproductive allocation of priority.
You already know of some major issues to address (primarily bodywork, it seems) and I can promise there are lots more awaiting you in your high(er) mileage chassis.
To go gold plated on the transmission from the gitgo with so much else to worry about makes no sense to me.
And, now that I think about it, the OP hasn't mentioned what's wrong with the current box and why the whole thing needs replacing.
What's the diagnosis, gmpaul?

Because I take pride in my work and wouldn't want to risk it rusting...oh and I can afford to do so. I do not daily any of my cars I am building/restoring.

I did unsubscribe to this post but read a preview of someone saying the same thing I was thinking to myself so I got interested into what everyone else had to say.

2. I am a commercial driver and certified trainer so, yes i do drive and know how easy it is to push a clutch in smart ***.
3. Respect is good but your original post led me to believe that you were just an everyday scammer like most of the others out there trying to sell me their used piece of **** part. If you more more explicative and told me what you said in this post I probably would have considered buying it.
4.again, if you would have listed some more info on your used transmission and said it came off a garaged vehicle and was never driven HARD more consideration would have been given.
5. You obviously don't use paypal very often it is not that hard to screw someone out of a few hundred bucks. Paypal has this stipulation for "virtual goods" where certain things are not covered by the buyer protection.

you're probably right. i agree a new transmission is a waste of money but I'd like to find one with less miles on it than mine. I've also been thinking....once i change the driveshaft a lot of the noise coming from the vibration will be gone also I'm installing a short shifter with new bushing and seals and a new boot so that might eliminate some noise too the problem is 5th gear sometimes it hums but that could just be the driveshaft idk well see i'll keep this thread updated with progress.

extremely well spoken sir. Appreciate the input! your right I didn't even mention whats wrong with the transmission. 5th gears makes some noise and I'm not sure if it is due to the driveshaft or if the noise is coming from the transmission. Also the shifter is extremely loose so i bought a short-shifter with replacement bushing as the ones in under the boot are degraded and practically non-existent. Again your roght with the analysis higher mileage = more problems I already had some major issues that I've worked through one of them being the thermal eccentric valve. I'm sure there are many more problems to come.

Don't care where you work...are you trying to impress me? I don't know what your definition of young is but the life expectancy in the united states is 78 ( U.S. Census 2010). So half of that is 39 which is considered old....

In most cases you do get your money back but in 3/10 cases I have not and those three cases happened to be forum related. the other 7 were ebay. I use paypal and ebay every other day and so far have only had 10 disputes.

CORRECTION ! selling the car because of the cost to get a paint job and the cost to do body work idiot! total cost to do body work and a paint job is close to triple the cars value so around 3000 for the paint job and 1750 for the body work. really wish people could learn how to read the thread before posting =/

bought the mazdatrix driveshaft came in the mail today will be installing soon currently tracking the short shifter via ups....should i close this thread or make it a build thread? and post pics of progress?
