Seized bolt - seat mount

so I want to take my driver's seat out due to the leather being ripped up. looks like a previous owner also tried, and the bolt head is rounded off and the bolt is seized in the mount on the front two mounts. The rear mounts I have already loosened.

Anybody have any suggestions on getting this out while still be able to use the seat mount?

I had the same thing happen when I was stripping out my interior. I had to get some sockets made by Craftsman that are made for getting out stripped bolts. Basically the more you turn the more it grabs and literally cuts into the bolt head. It worked great for the front, but in the rear I couldn't get it on there enough so I had to use a dremel and like 15 cutting wheels to grind the bolt head off. Hopefully you don't have to resort to that. Good luck!

cut an X into it and try to use a big screwdriver? spray it with PB blaster first. you could probably drill it out too if you can get the correct angle.

yeah, hit it with PB blaster. didn't think to try cutting it to use a screw driver.

What I do a lot is cut a deep slot into the bolt with a hacksaw or cutting wheel, and soak it in PB blaster for as long as I can. Then I get my impact screwdriver and smack that bastard.

If I were you I would get something that cuts a thin straight line, a cutoff wheel would work. Be sure to spray it with some PB Blaster and hit it with a screwdriver.

I recently stripped a torx bolt that was used to hold down a rear seat belt in my truck. Big ****** too, t-50 or 55. Anyway, generally I use a cutoff wheel and cut a slot and use a impact driver (as was said above) but I didn't have the option that time - so I welded a nut on and broke out the impact gun. Worked like a dream.

And quit using dremels and get a real ******* tool. Those things are about as usefull as **** on a bull, complete ******* junk n:

I just had to remove seats the other day. Lovely convertibles with ripped tops make for extra rusty seat bolts. I used a big pair of genuine vise-grips.... not the knock-offs. The cheapies will bust fingers. If you have to get to the front inner bolts, then you're out of luck with the vise-grips.
