Seatbelt retractor latch, how do these come apart?
Looked around and couldn't find a good answer. I need to switch the latch part on my retractor. The retractor is fine, but the old latch is all busted up. I have a spare latch on a rail, so I was just going to swap it over. So does anybody here know how it comes apart...without breaking all the plastic bits inside? haha. Thanks in advance!!

Your profile says you have a '90 GTU, which means you have the automatic "mouse" belts. There are actually two retractors and two latches per side, one each for the shoulder belt and one for the lap belt. I'm assuming you're talking about the shoulder belt latch because those tend to get baked by the sun and gummed up with dirt when the window is open. The shoulder belt retractor is located beneath the center armrest and console, but to replace the shoulder belt latch, you'll need to first remove the pillar trim. It is pretty hard to do this without breaking anything since the plastic will be pretty brittle at this point. Make sure you remove the plastic cap and screw at the rearmost end of the trim piece before you start prying at it.
If you haven't already done this, you should download the FSM:
http://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/
In the download, diagrams of the mouse belt track and mechanism are in Section 14: Body and begins on page S-15 and runs through S-20.

I'm not following, why does the A pillar trim need to come out? I'm not rying to remove the sliding mechanism from the car...just the buckle that attaches to it. I'm reading the FSM and no where does it say how that one piece comes apart.
I want to just swap the circled piece from one car to the other.

Ok, so I figured it out. First, I broke it. But upon inspecting the broken pieces. There are two clips that are very hard to get to on the inside of the plastic. You're gonna need a pretty small and long flatblade to try and pull them back to seperate the two plastic pieces. The spring mechanism just clips on to the metal.
