I think I may have an exhaust leak near my turbo (91 Turbo). I hear a ticking noise at idle. I crawled under the turbo and was looking and feeling everywhere. Could not smell it or feel it. I took a hammer and set it on the gas pedal and let it run at 3000rpm. Crawled back under and it disappeared. I was thinking if I had one it would be screaming loud. Well, it is loud but it dosn't sound like a leak.

I am thinking the noise has always been there. But now with my Bonez DP the sound isn't deadened like the stock precat probally did. Am I just hearing exhaust pulses?

The turbo exhaust housing had this weird reddish dust on it. Strange.

My idea was this. Pull a vacuum hose and let it suck down some light oil. Of course it will smoke like hell. But the smoke should come out any leaks and the tail pipes.

Anybody done that before? I don't want to hurt my new engine by making it burn oil. I am affraid it might start liking it and want to burn more. Kinda like a adict?

Just tighten all the exhaust nuts you can access and cross your fingers.
