Angry scum bag tried stealing my car! HELP.

Ok so I'm pissed right now!
Basically some **** tried stealing my rx7 once I ran into the store tonight and Fucked up my lock on the drives side door lock.
Got it open but it took some effort and wasn't normal feeling now I can't even open the door and to add to my bad luck the passengers side won't open from the outside due to something fail in the lock a few months ago...I know....I know I should have addressed it then.

So now I cant open the damn car at all! Errrr......
Btw I have a convertible no hatch to crawl through.

My questions are does anyone now where I can buy a complete lock set new and do they now how to enter the car without keys...obviously not through the top or braking a window.

Soo pissed but glad those scum bags didn't get her!
Next set is a bad *** alarm!
Help please don't want to spend crazy amounts of cash just to get it open from some locksmith.

I was able to open the door when keys were locked in with a cardboard.has to be about 6" long 4" wide and slide it between window and door straight down by the door handle and it will push down on a lever which will open the door.i haven't done that in years but I've done it quite a bit when I owned my turbo II.

Opening the car is dead simple, I just did it last week.
Peel off the lower outside window trim/wiper.
Use a ruler (or any flat strip of material) to push down the door latch operating rod, it's the only plastic connector thingie you can see.
Takes about 10 seconds.

A locksmith might be able to save your lock cylinder.
I had all my cylinders rebuilt with master keys, cost about $100.

Mazdatrix sells them new.

The easiest way to break into an FC is to remove the weather strip, remove a windshield wiper, and poke the wiper down against the rod. No tools required. I used to lock my keys in my car all the time so I figured this trick out.

It didn't work on my 1st gen though. They have a curve above the handle that blocks jimmy sticks.

A pro would already know how and an amateur would just break a window (or slit the top)...the only people who care about getting in without damaging the car are us, the owners.

Climb through the hatch or other door.

My girlfriends 7 was obviously broken/attempted into at some point in its life. Both door locks have holes that are screw driver shaped.

Wow turbo Dave that worked out great! But I used a piece of very thin sheet metal.

Now time for new locks and a sikk axx alarm oh yeah and some tires lol.

Thanks guys!

OP, not only do I feel bad that someone tried to break into your car... But also for the fact that a lot of people responding in this thread haven't read a single word of your initial post. haha

Actually, a couple did.

To the OP, get any door lock lock off an 2nd Gen RX7 parts car or buy one from Mazdatrix, take it to a lock smith and have them "key" it to your regular key.

Installing is actually quite easy as it's held in place with a simple C spring. You just pull the door card, remove a couple 10MM bolts, not so secret trick is to also take out the philips screws that holds the door jamb locking mechanism so it can drop down providing remove wiggle, then massage the door handle out from the outside.

I know this is kind of an old thread but I just wanted to say thanks for the explanation of how to change the locks (the fc I'm in possession of has fubar'd locks). Any chance you might be able to pm me how to change the hatch one too?

To the OP: Glad they didn't get away with your baby I just found out this morning someone tried to steal my first gen overnight. Jokes on them, no battery in it since it's not running properly atm HAHA!

Dude sorry to hear that. I own a vert too. But when they have tried to steal mine, they just cut the top and still couldn't get in. I am on my 5th top thanks to these guys who want my car.

Nope. Just to correct that information for future searchers, the outside weather strip is held in place by a small philips screw toward the inside rear of the door.

the verts have a screw on an L bracket, the coupes are held on by spring clips and lift off easily.

so if your vert trim is intact, it's not so easy to pop the window seal off.

Good guy thief.
Doesnt want to break your window to steal your radio
So he unlocks your door with a coat hanger.

I had that happened before to my other car. Windows are hard to replace because its hard to find one.

I did not know that vert specific fact and stand corrected.
Coupe trim has no fasteners, just clips...wonder why verts warrant the extra hardware?
